The
American Society for Industrial Security (ASIS), with more than
30,000 members, is the largest international organization for
professionals responsible for security, including managers and
directors of security. In addition, corporate executives and
other management personnel, as well as consultants, architects,
attorneys and federal, state and local law enforcement, are
becoming involved with ASIS to better understand the constant
changes in security issues and solutions. ASIS is dedicated
to increasing the effectiveness and productivity of security
practices by developing educational programs and materials that
address broad security concerns.

The
mission of the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA),
which was organized in 1896, is to reduce the burden of fire
on the quality of life by advocating scientifically based consensus
codes and standards, research, and education for fire and related
safety issues.
NFPA is an independent, voluntary membership, nonprofit (tax-exempt)
organization. A board of directors has general charge of the
affairs of the association, which has a staff of 169 professional
men and women plus 141 support personnel.
NFPA is financed principally by revenues from publications,
membership dues, and seminars. NFPA has an annual expense budget
of $58 million and annual revenues of about $65 million.
NFPA codes and standards are recognized around the world as
having reliable state-of-the-art information and are considered
useful and effective for achieving fire safety.

The
National Burglar & Fire Alarm Association (NBFAA) is dedicated
to the reduction and prevention of false alarms. False alarms
take police officers away from other more serious matters, can
be costly to all parties involved, and threaten the relationship
between the alarm industry and public safety officials. NBFAA
is affiliated with different groups that are extremely active
in reducing false alarms. Also, NBFAA has materials which help
our members do their part to reduce false alarms. Here are some
